Global Call for Action: Nuclear Weapons

Medical journals publish unique editorial.

This month, over 100 medical journals around the world have collaborated to publish a call for urgent steps to decrease the growing danger of nuclear war.

In a unique initiative, journals like the Medical Journal of Australia, British Medical Journal, The Lancet, Indian Journal of Medical Ethics, West African Journal of Medicine and others have jointly published a call to action:

As editors of health and medical journals worldwide, we call on health professionals to alert the public and our leaders to this major danger to public health and the essential life support systems of the planet — and urge action to prevent it.

This initiative was coordinated by our international federation, International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, co-authored by A/Prof Tilman Ruff, Prof Virginia Barbour (MJA), Prof Elena N. Naumova (Journal of Public Health Policy) and others.
