MAPW welcomes news that the 78th session of the World Health Assembly has adopted an historic resolution, mandating the World Health Organisation to update its knowledge on the effects of nuclear weapons on health and health systems.
The resolution was spearheaded by the Marshall Islands, Samoa, and Vanuatu and co-sponsored by over 30 WHA member states. The resolution enables the WHO to re-establish a programme of work on the health effects of nuclear weapons.
MAPW and our global federation, IPPNW, have been advocating in support of the resolution, and warmly welcome its adoption.
