11 March 2025 marks 14 years since the Fukushima nuclear disaster, a triple tragedy with lasting consequences for people and planet, and has been declared a National Day of Action Against Nuclear Power in Australia.
Join MAPW and friends at a number of events around the country, and online, to commemorate Fukushima and to understand the nuclear risks facing us at home as a result of the recent push for nuclear energy. Details below.
Also today, Don’t Nuke the Climate has released a major research project, showing what a Fukushima-style nuclear disaster would look like if it happened at one of the Coalition’s seven proposed reactor sites.
The introduction of nuclear power to Australia creates numerous risks, including of radiation plumes after an accident. The nuclearplume map models the spread of radiation from seven sites around Australia.
