MAPW is proud to be amongst the many health organisations around the world standing up and speaking out for the people of Palestine.
When clear, basic and universal rights to medical care are violated, when health workers and facilities are targeted, we have a responsibility to our profession, and to our colleagues in conflict zones, to make noise and seek remedy.
Yet in Australia and around the world, individual health professionals who have spoken out for the people of Palestine report being threatened, reported to regulatory authorities, sacked or suspended, or having invitations to professional forums rescinded.
Such silencing of health professionals on a critical matter of healthcare and its protection is totally unacceptable. On the contrary, their actions should be supported, not suppressed.
