Yesterday, the Federal Court threw out the declaration of a proposed nuclear waste dump site near Kimba in SA, citing ‘pre-judgement’ and ‘apprehended bias’.
The case against the nuclear waste dump was bought by Barngarla Traditional Owners.
MAPW welcomes the Court’s decision. MAPW campaigners have consistently argued that the Kimba plan is flawed in every aspect, and now urge the Federal Government to accept the ruling. An open and independent inquiry into the production and storage of toxic nuclear waste is essential.
