Australian government response to Parliamentary nuclear treaties inquiry: MAPW 2010 report
This two-page MAPW paper discusses the Australian's government's disappointing response to the report of the Parliaments's Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (JSCOT) nuclear treaties inquiry, in particular its failure to follow through on the recommendation of a Nuclear Weapons Convention. The Committee reported in September 2009 but the government responded in 2010.

ICAN media release: Government urged to act on nuclear treaty - September 2009
17 September 2009 ICANi media release following the tabling of the report of the Joint Standing Committe on Treaties, on Australia's nuclear treaties. The release quotes Dimity Hawkinds and MAPW's Bill Williams and Sue Wareham, as welcoming recommendations that the government support a Nuclear Weapons Convention, and play a leading role in working for nuclear disarmament.

Kelvin Thomson MP addresses MAPW Council on nuclear treaties: August 2009
Kelvin Thomson MP chairs the Australian Parliament's Joint Standing Committee on Treaties (JSCOT), which is currently undertaking an broad-ranging inquiry into Australia’s nuclear treaties. Mr Thomson addressed MAPW's National Council on 29 August 2009. He discussed progress towards nuclear disarmament, including many of the international treaties being considered by the parliamentary enquiry.
