Torquay GP is new MAPW leader
Dr Bill Williams was elected the new President of MAPW during the National Council meeting on the weekend of 29-30 August 2009.
Dr Williams, a GP in Torquay on Victoria's Surf Coast, believes that working to resolve and prevent conflict is an essential part of his work as a doctor. He is well-known as a campaigner and public speaker on the unacceptable risks of nuclear weapons, and the associated hazards of nuclear power and the uranium industry.

Dr Jason Garrood (SA) and Dr Peter Underwood (WA) continue on the MAPW Executive as Vice President. Dr Anne Noonan (NSW) and Dr Jenny Grounds (Victoria) are new Vice Presidents; with Dr Peter Karamoskas taking on the Treasurer's position.
