Power of Peace at the Port

On  Sunday 21 September MAPW held a peace walk, planting of a peace tree and discussion about peace in the community in Port Adelaide. The day was supported by the City of Enfield/Port Adelaide and was well attended.

Highlights included the peace walk around the streets of Port Adelaide and the planting of a peace tree by the Deputy Mayor, John Croci, J.P.

There was a presentation of a batik symbolising peace made by Val Bennett of Port Adelaide Uniting Church, from Thich Thong Phap,  Buddhist Chaplain at Flinders University, and presented to Fr. Ken Bechaz of St Paul’s Anglicanⁱ Church Port Adelaide in a moving symbolic gesture of unification to this cause.

The discussion was led by Dr Ruth Mitchell, (Deputy Chair and Regional Vice President for SE Asia and the Pacific), Dr Sue Wareham OAM (President MAPW) and Dr Amanda Ruler (SA Branch Coordinator) with lots of unique perspectives offered by the audience.
