MAPW fact sheet debunks medical need for NT nuclear waste dump

MAPW has released a new two page fact sheet about the proposed Northern Territory Nuclear waste dump at Muckaty Station. Prepared by MAPW treasurer and nuclear radiologist Dr Peter Karamoskos, the fact sheet explains the types of radioactive material that will be stored in the repository. It debunks the myth that the repository is needed for medical radioactive waste differentiating between such waste and the Commonwealth waste that will be stored in the dump.

Also recently published by MAPW is an introductory fact sheet on the health hazards of radiation. This basic fact sheet includes an explanation of "safe" levels of radiation and a brief discussion of health implications of the nuclear industry.
