IPPNW calls for ban on uranium mining

A ban on uranium mining was supported by the August 2010 World Congress of IPPNWⁱ, the international body of to which MAPW is affiliated. The resolution states that uranium ore mining  is irresponsible and represents a grave threat to health and to the environment; and resolves that IPPNWⁱ call for appropriate measures to ban uranium mining worldwide. The Congress had earlier heard from Australian Aboriginal Traditional Owners of land where mining has taken place. MAPW representatives are available to speak on this issue.
