BACKGROUND
The Medical Association for Prevention of War (Australia) is a professional not-for-profit organisation that works to promote peace and disarmament. MAPW has branches in every State and Territory in Australia and is the Australian affiliate of International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War. MAPW’s core funding comes from member subscriptions. Its national office is located in Trades Hall, 54 Victoria Street Carlton.

The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICANi) was launched in Australia three years ago to bring nuclear issues into the public debate and place nuclear disarmament squarely on the political agenda. ICANi’s office is located not far from MAPW, in the Green Building at 60 Leicester Street Carlton. The two organisations have close links, and Dr Peter Karamoskos is Treasurer of both organisations.

In addition to this position, MAPW currently employs an Executive Officer four days a week. ICANi employs a full-time Executive Officer and a part-time communications officer. Both organisations employ project staff as funding permits.

Please send your resume and letter of application, addressed to Dr Peter Karamoskos, Treasurer, ICANi and MAPW. Email to: tim [at] icaniw [dot] org – subject line: Bookkeeper/Administrator application. Receipt of application will be acknowledged (after 4 January, if received over holiday period).
