28 MAY 2009. Former Prime Minister Malcolm Fraser adressed the National Consultative Committee on Disarmament Conference in Wellington last weekend, talking about issues of nuclear arms possession and the impossibility of differentiating between nuclear weapons for use and those for deterence.

Mr Fraser also mentioned the extensive business of illegal smuggling of fissile materials, which causes concerns for who has their hands on nuclear arms. Negotiating a Nuclear Weapons Convention would bring together all the neccessary aspects of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, and the time is now right for complete nuclear abolition.
