Remenbrance and Resilience - 30 years after Chernobyl - a short film fest

On April 26th 1986 in the town of Pripyat, Russia, the Chernobyl disaster happened. It was the worst nuclear power plant accident in history. The battle to contain the contamination ultimately involved over 500,000 workers and cost an estimated 18 billion roubles.  During the accident itself, 31 people died and the long-term effects such as cancers are still being investigated.

To remember this cataclysmic event, ACE will be staging a short film festival with guest speaker, Dr Bill Williams from the Medical Association for Prevention of War.

Films include, Abita, Postcards from Pripyat, Half Lives - the Chernobyl Workers Now, The Nuclear Age in Six Movements, MAralinga Pieces, Leonids Story, Women of Fukushima
