MAPW National Council meeting
MAPW's National Council meets in Melbourne over the weekend of 22-24 August 2008. The agenda includes reports and strategic and financial planning, workshops and information sessions.
There will be a Saturday evening dinner honouring long-time member Professor Ian Maddocks. Members are welcome to come along, and to bring guests. Please RSVP to MAPW on 8344 1637. Rathdowne Tavern, 184 Rathdowne St Carlton, (cnr Neill St) 7.00pm for 7.30pm. ($60 full price will cross-subsidise student members, for $30).
There are several information sessions which may be of interest to both members and supporters - please see the flyer and print it to give to colleagues or post at work. Please RSVP for this sessions. In particular these are:
- Friday evening, which includes an update on West Papua; and a film on environmental damage caused by war.
- Saturday afternoon, which includes an update on the International Campaign to abolish Nuclear Weapons; and information sessions on highly enriched uranium, and on India's Jadugoda uranium mine.
Members are also welcome to attend all council sessions over the weekend (it is not anticipated at this stage, that any agenda items would need to be restricted to council members).
