2008 Refugee Thank You March
The Refugee Thank You March begins the evening’s events. Refugees thankful for what Australia and Australians have done for them will march along side Australians that are thankful for the contributions that refugees have made to their lives and communities.
The Refugee Thank You March begins the evening’s events. Refugees thankful for what Australia and Australians have done for them will march along side Australians that are thankful for the contributions that refugees have made to their lives and communities.
Participants will carry lanterns in the symbolic United Nations blue, used worldwide as a sign of protection and assistance to refugees, and will make banners, t-shirts and lanterns with positive messages of thanks. Or you can buy them at Hyde Park.
After walking around Hyde Park, you are welcome to attend the opening of the 2008 Refugee Art Exhibition, the Refugee Short Film Festival and Refugee Humanitarian Awards.
Details:
- 5:30pm – Meet at Hyde Park Sydney Corner of Park St and Elizabeth St.
- 6:00pm – March begins
- 6:30pm – Arrive at Uniting Church, 264 Pitt Street Sudney, for art opening and dinner.
- 7:00pm -2008 Refugee humanitarian awards
- 7:30pm -2008 Refugee short film festival
- 9:30pm -End of event
