MAPW submission on ANZAC Centenary: September 2010

MAPW challenges misconceptions about Australia's role in external and internal wars, in a detailed submission to the National Commission advisingthe Government on options to mark the 2015 ANZAC Centenary. MAPW questions the lack of reference to widespread Australian opposition to our participation in the 1914-1918 war, as well as any direct reference to the violent conflict of European occupation of Australia. We welcome the invitation to examine war as a human failure; and make concrete suggestions regarding commemorative activities which focus on the human costs of war, and how to prevent wars in future.
