Australia's Defence: where are we headed

MAPW and the Nautilus Institute (RMIT) are organising a forum discussing the Defence White Paper and the Federal Budget. The discussion will cover issues such as how the Defence White Paper is going to shape Australia's future relationships with the rest of the world and with our Pacific region?

Massive budget increase for Australia's military

Defence will get a massive additional $43 billion dollars over a decade, with three per cent annual growth. The budget includes a substantial allocation of $9.2 million for the International Commission on Non-Proliferation and Disarmament, and also funds for counter-proliferation intelligence; and for nuclear and radiological security.
