Victoria

The Victorian branch is numerically the largest in Australia. Victoria is host to the National Office of MAPW, and members have played an active role in national affairs.

The Branch has an elected committee which meets monthly to plan activities. The committee includes student representatives from Monash University and the University of Melbourne, as well as members working in a variety of health care professions in urban and rural areas.

The committee is planning a series of information evenings for members, highlighting new research into nuclear and peace issues. Many members attend regular peace activities such as Palm Sunday, and Hiroshima Day; and activites are freqently organised jointly with other groups with an interest in peace and the abolition of nuclear weapons.

Victorian members are also active in the promotion and organisation of ICANi, which is also based in Melbourne. Contact the branch to organise an ICAN speaker.
